Build a beginner workout plan with AI
Get a realistic 4-week plan for your goal, schedule and equipment, with easier and harder versions of each exercise.
Why it works
Most workout plans fail because they don't fit real life: too many days, the wrong equipment, or too much too soon. AI is good at building a plan around your exact constraints and adjusting it when something doesn't work. It doesn't replace a doctor, physical therapist or coach, so use it for structure and check anything that hurts.
Step by step
Describe your starting point.
Help me build a workout plan. Ask me one question at a time about: my goal, current activity level, days per week and minutes per session I can realistically do, equipment I have, any injuries or health conditions, and exercises I enjoy or hate. Then summarize my answers.
Get a 4-week plan.
Create a 4-week beginner plan from my answers. For each session list a 5-minute warm-up, 4–6 exercises with sets, reps or time, and rest. Increase difficulty gradually week to week. Format it as a simple table I can print.
Add easier and harder options.
For each exercise, give one easier version, one harder version, and one short form cue. Flag any exercise that is commonly hard on the knees, back or shoulders, and suggest a gentler swap.
Adjust after week one.
Here's how week one went: [WHAT FELT TOO EASY, TOO HARD, MISSED SESSIONS]. Adjust weeks 2–4 so I can actually stick to it.
Fill in the [brackets] with your details before you send.
Replace anything in [BRACKETS] with your details. Works with most AI chat assistants. The ChatGPT and Claude buttons open a new chat with the prompt already typed in, and you press send. Gemini doesn't accept pre-filled links, so its button copies the prompt for you to paste. For steps 2 and later, paste into the same chat you started so the AI keeps the context.

Tips and cautions
- This is general fitness information, not medical advice. If you have a health condition, are pregnant or haven't exercised in a long time, check with your doctor first.
- Stop any exercise that causes sharp pain, dizziness or chest discomfort.
- Look up form videos from reputable trainers or organizations for any move you haven't done before.
FAQ
Can ChatGPT make a good workout plan?
It can make a solid starting plan if you give it real details about your schedule, equipment and limits. It can't see your form or know your medical history, so treat the plan as a draft and adjust it based on how your body responds.
How many days a week should a beginner work out?
Many beginner plans use two to four sessions a week with rest days in between. The best number is the one you can keep doing; you can add more later.
